Folk Dances of Rajasthan

Rajasthan, the Land of warrior is famous for rich culture and heritage sites. Rajasthani Folk Dance is play a vital role in pleasing and historical importance culture. Folk dance are traditional typical dance performed to highlight the occasion and festivals. Richness of Rajasthan culture is reflected from the folk dance of the state. Folk dance of Rajasthan is performed since from the rule of the Rajput King dome. Many songs of the state tell the Legendary battle of Rajput, religious and devotionals tales. it is impossible to cover all the folk dance of the state but tried to cover most of the famous folk dances.

Kalbelia Dance

This Folk Dance is performed by the Kalbelia community of this state of Indian Continental. This folk dance is internationally famous and recognised by all. Kalbelia dance is also known as "Sapera dance" as well as "Snack Charmer Dance".

This fork dance movement and costume are serpent. Dance performer has black dress and the men play the been with other instruments. Been is the type of musical instrument used while catching the snack by Kalbelia. Two or three women sing a folk dance and other women perform the dance.

Ghoomar

Ghoomar is one of the best folk dance of Rajasthan. This dance is performed on very auspicious day like Holi, Gangaur and Teej festival.

These dance is considered among the world's best folk dance due to its steps. These folk dance is originated from Marwar, a historical place of Rajasthan.

Bhavai

Bhavai is one of difficult dance and perform by skill artist only. In this skillful dance, women lift 6-7 clay pot on the head and take step. In addition to pot art, women also stand on platform or weapon and perform.

Chari dance

Chari dance is also one of the traditional dance performed by skill artists. During special occasion and festival, women perform the Chari dance. In this folk dance, women put metal pot on head and lighten up the lamp on pot.

Women balance the pot sophistically and take various step in various pattern.

Kathputli

Puppet dance called as Kathputli dance is one of the oldest dance of Rajasthan. During the puppet dance, performer also tale the legendary stories. In puppet show, wooden dolls are dressed with traditional clothes.

This puppet are attached with the thread control by the persons stand behind the platform. Person move the puppet skillfully in the flow of music.

Terah Taal

Terah Taal is also one of the famous folk dance of Rajasthan performed by skillful artist. Women dress up with traditional clothes and tie manjeera - small brass plate music instrument. Along with this they also put metal pot on the head.

Moreover, dancer also balance the sword in the mouth and perform.
