Ajanta & Ellora Caves

Worldwide famous Ajanta-Ellora caves are situated near Aurangabad, Maharashtra. The caves are represent the Indian ancient art and architecture work. Ajanta caves have most of painting on wall on Buddhism, while Ellora caves are dedicated Buddhism, Hinduism and Jainam as well.

Total 29 caves are their in Ajanta while in Ellora, 34 monasteries and temple are their in Caves. The caves were built in two stage started in 2nd century BC.

Badami Caves

Badami Cave is located in Bagalkot district of Karnataka. There are four caves in Badami, out of which three caves are dedicated to Hinduism and one for Jainism. First cave is temple temple of Natraja, second and third is temple of Vishnu and fourth is dedicated to Lord Mahavir, founder of Jainism.

Elephanta Caves

Elephanta caves are located on island off to the coast of Mumbai, 11 KMs from the city. Elephanta caves were carved during the period 450 to 750 AD.

There are total seven caves. Out of which main cave is spectacular, carved massive sculptos of Lord Shiva.

Udaigiri & Khandagiri Caves

Udaigiri caves are situated in the Bhubneshwar district of Oddisha. Udaigiri and Khandagiri caves are Jain rock cut shelter. Caves built around 2nd century of BC.

Originally built more then 100 caves, out of which thirty three caves are present only. Out of which fifteen caves are situated in Khandagiri and eighteen are located in Udaigiri.

Undavalli Caves

These rock cut carved cave is situated on the top of the hill near the Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh. Undavalli Caves built during the 4th Century.

There are many caves in Undavalli but the major known caves is four stories caves, a architecture wonder. the caves are dedicated to Lord Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh. Beautiful view of the Vijayawada and Krishna river attract the tourist.

Karla Caves

Karla Caves is situated near the Lonavala, Maharashta. This Buddhist Caves is one of the major tourist attraction near Lonavala.
